The practice consists of a vigorous series of vinyasa (flow) asanas (postures), requiring an integral connection to breathing, and focusing on building heat in the body to enhance general health and fitness. ‘Vinyasa’ literally means “breath - synchronized movement”. In an analogy to life, one breathes and moves in and out of asanas (postures) gaining a pure conscious awareness of the breath, the mind, and the body. Guaranteed to make you sweat, the main ‘flow’ centers on the traditional Sun Salutation Series, a cycle of postures designed to awaken and build a powerful level of energy in the body. Variations add differing levels of intensity, interest and challenge to the practice, while still allowing newer yogis to work at their own safe level.
